The horse embodies freedom,
nobility, loyalty, and power. What better mascot could an independent
filmmaker have?
Lexico Productions Inc. is an independent
production company based in Vancouver. Formed in 2003 to make
The Guardian and incorporated in 2004, Lexico makes films for
Canadian and International audiences, and achieves commercial
success by telling accessible stories with resonant themes. Lexico
has the in-house capability of writing, shooting, and producing
its projects. We are actively developing a short film, a documentary
about preserving a unique Vancouver community, and two feature
film thrillers. We have begun filming our documentary A
Horse in the City, and our psychological thriller Emergence
has garnered support from the Harold Greenberg Fund. Passionate
about our stories, we are intrigued by unique characters in unusual
circumstances and are committed to adventure.
Monica Hilborn: President
Monica writes, directs, and produces for Lexico. She studied film
at McGill University, Vancouver Film School, Praxis, Langara,
and Capilano College. She has directed shorts that have screened
at film festivals across the country, her short film script 503
was short-listed for the NSI ZeD Drama Prize 2004 and 2005, and
she was chosen for the 2005 Women in Film and Video Mentorship
Program. She has written a novel, five feature length screenplays,
and a pilot for a television series. She worked for a new media
company as a writer-producer and for Avanti Pictures as a field
director before forming Lexico Productions with her partner Livio
Gambone. Monica is the creative force behind Lexico and her closet
is full of great stories, waiting to be told.
Livio Gambone: Vice President
In addition to managing Lexico’s financial operations, Livio
produces, story consults, and shoots a lot of our footage. He
graduated from McGill University in Engineering, but he has always
been interested in film and photography. The film bug bit Livio
hard when he began filming videos to demonstrate the viability
of hydrogen-powered vehicles. His passion for the industry grew
as he worked on Lexico’s scripts and co-produced Fixed Income
and The Guardian, and his creativity behind the camera can be
seen in the dream sequences for Veil and in Lexico’s documentary
A Horse in the City. Because of his attention to detail and sense
of what sells, our stories go nowhere without Livio’s stamp
of approval.
